Communicate Your Thankfulness
This year has been one of transition for me and, because of me, for my family. In January, I early-retired from my university teaching position to pursue communication consulting. I had big plans and even bigger expectations, and I had it mapped out to be worked out by March.
Let’s just say that all that did not pan out, and I found myself in search of what I could do to share my knowledge and experience with the world, while helping to provide income for my family.
The year has been both rough and amazing. We have learned what tightening our belts means, and we have seen God move in our lives. I am so thankful for everything, both hard and good, that I’ve learned in this journey.
I’ve spent this year figuring out where I am going with my communication expertise and praying about how God wants me to use my abilities and knowledge in service to Him. I began a book that has written me as much as I have written it and has become something far different than what I had envisioned more than a year ago when I decided to write a book after I retired from university teaching.
What stands out to me most on this Thanksgiving Day is that we all need to communicate our thankfulness more. Even if you are a person who regularly communicates thanks to others, and I really feel like I am in that category, we can all do more to communicate thankfulness.
We have a superpower that we often misuse; we take for granted how God has gifted us to be interconnected with others through our communication. We often rush through life shooting from the hip and hoping for the best. Let’s not.
In this final phase of 2018, let’s look to how we can be more attentive and intentional in our communication with others. Let’ s figure out better ways to communicate with ourselves so as to create peace and prosperity in our lives. Let’s vow to honor others with every word, gesture, expression or silence.
It is such a blessing to me to be able to share what I love with you. Thank you for letting me into your life.
Let’s Communicate our Thankfulness and Remember to Make our IMPACT Matter.
Happy Thanksgiving 2018.
